Panic Attacks & PTSD
I have spent many years successfully treating people who suffer from panic attacks and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Results tend to come about very quickly. Many have suffered for decades including symptoms such as sudden disorientation, extreme fear, excessive perspiration, irritability, nausea and dizziness. Typically, this is accompanied by insomnia and nervous tension.
Physiology
These are responses of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). In some cases, patients present with symptoms such as light-headedness, trembling, difficulty breathing, heart palpitations, hot flashes, and vertigo. These and other responses associated with panic attacks and PTSD are the result of what is known as a positive feedback loop wherein the body continues to boost stimulation where it would normally quell and soothe responses to the sympathetic nervous system.
Acupuncture works quickly to balance the body’s nervous system responses and to restore homeostasis (the body’s natural drive towards balance and good health). It is not uncommon for patients to notice significant gains from acupuncture care within 1-2 weeks. Sleep is often restored, anxiety diminishes significantly, and years of tension are released. This can be very important for people who have developed PTSD and panic attacks due to mental trauma, physical ailments, and exposure to extreme circumstances such as combat.
Widely Accepted
Acupuncture is widely implemented to treat these conditions. For example, Andrews Air Force Base has a full time acupuncture clinic and a new program of 44 Air Force, Navy, and Army doctors have been trained to apply acupuncture for these conditions in combat zones and war-zone hospitals. In addition, the Navy has added an acupuncture program at Camp Pendleton, California.
Clinical Success
If you or anyone you know suffers from panic attacks or PTSD, please consider acupuncture care. I have helped numerous people for over 17 years to overcome these difficulties. This allows my patients to move on with their lives in a healthy way. If taking medications, my patients are able to reduce or even eliminate the need for medication with the help of acupuncture care.
