This is recommended at week 34 to 37 for optimal results and usually requires 1-2 acupuncture appointments. At term, acupuncture is an effective tool for inducing labor. This helps an expecting mother to have natural childbirth. Pain management is a very important aspect of obstetric support. Acupuncture often eliminates many musculoskeletal pain disorders such that the expectant mother need not take medications during her pregnancy.
